Two Italian volunteer watersiders were attacked on their way from the wharves with pick handles. * They drew knives and slashed their assailants, one of whom was badly injured. The Italians escaped. Seven other volunteers were attacked by a mob at Port Melbourne. Four revolver shots were fired at the volunteers, three of whom were hurt, and all the windows in the taxi cab in which they were riding were smashed with stones.
