ANGLO-FRENCH AGREEMENT

WILL BE HEARD OF AGAIN

(Received 26th October, 9.16 a.m.) . WASHINGTON, 25th October.

Some naval and diplomatic officials believe that the Anglo-French naval agreement is as much alive as ever, notwithstanding the unmistakeably vigorous language with which it was denounced in the Kellogg Note. The agreement may probably be heard of again, because France was insisting that Britain should carry out its end of the bargain, which consisted' of a promise for the support of the French' land disarmament policy. This opinion is echoed in authoritative quarters here, where it is believed that as long as France maintains this position, England undoubtedly will demand that France should continue to support the British naval thesis. Naval men suggest that London and Paris might rearrange the naval agreement in the hope of making it more attractive to the United States, but without sacrificing its fundamental principles.
