The “Daily Mail” states that Scotland Yard Assistant Commissioner Childs retires with Commissioner Ilorwood on 6th November. Viscount Byng succeeds Sir William Hortvood. Si? William JoynsonHieks, Home Secretary, is searching for a new Assistant Commissioner. LONDON, Bth October. Sir Borlase Childs denies a statement that he will speak out at the right time. He has not hinted at any revelations, which are absurd fiction. He says: “When a man leaves a public position such as Scotland Yard he must dismiss from iiis mind any knowledge acquired, otherwise lie is unfit to be an Englishman.” . Certain newspapers hint at further resignations from Scotland Yard.
