Formerly belonging to the I»ev. Tbos. Williams, Dean of Llandaff, a first folio Shakespeare was sold at Christie's for £4OOO.
The record price of £BOOO was paid for the late Baroness Biirdelt-Coutls’ famous “Daniel”; copy at Sotheby's. six years ago. . . Big prices were realised at Sotheby’s. A magnificent Italian miniature of the Crucifixion which belonged to the late John Lord Nortlnvick, brought £6OO.
Another miniature of the Crucifixion, with the arms of Clement VII. was suld for £475, vhile tlio highest paid for a miniature was £960 for a Burgundian work of the Crucifixion, the price representing £IOO a, square inch. A 15th-century Flemish manuscript on vellum, with exquisite miniatures, was sold for £ISOO.
