MAHENO DELAYED
A SYDNEY COMEDY United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. SYDNEY, 10th August. The Maheno’s departure was delayed an hour owing to the absence of a fireman, who was arrested just before the scheduled sailing time owing to a dispute with a taxi-man over the fare. The rest of the firemen prevented the ship being taken from the wharf. They seized the gangway ropes which the seamen. had begun to cast off, and when these were made fast again the men went forward and held a. meeting, after which a deputation interviewed tlio captain on the bridge. Then the absent fireman, having settled his affair in Court, returned, was cheered by his comrades, and mounted the gangway. , The ship cast off and the comedy ended.
