Councillor Wigzell asked if the En- L gineer could have; the plans for the dressing shed completed by the next committee meeting, and the committee be given power to act. The Mayor said the Engineer was very busy at present with the foundation plans for the power house extensions. At the. same time he was sure the EnJgineer would do his best to get them ready as soon as possible. Councillor Harley moved that the plans for the dressing shed be prepared by an architect. The Engineer was very, busy with other work. He had already drawn twdfcor three plans, each of which Was approved in its turn. What was wrong with the last plan? Councillor Harley said he considered that the pub-’ lie should know that the scheme prepared by'Mr Hurst Seagar was not to be carried out. Councillor Harley considered that the object of improving the. Sands was to provide bathing facilities and reasonable provisions for obtaining refreshments, and not in providing acres of playing fields. He thought the public should realise the part the Council was taking in the scheme. Councillor Stringer seconded the motion. , , Councillor Watson opposed the motion. The matter was only a small one, and immediately he got through, his present rush; of work the plans could be prepared.. He was against the employment of an architect after, what took place over, the baths. . Jn. answer to the Mayor the Engineer said he could get the plans ready in about a fortnight. The motion was put and lost; and the clauses were adopted.
