PLUNKET SOCIETY

The monthly meeting of tho Plunket Society was held ip the Waimea County Council room. Accounts passed for payment amounted to £65 15s 9d. Nurse Pascoe reported as follows for the town: New cases for the month, 10; mothers and adults to tho _ Plunket rooms 248, babies 144, other children 60, visits paid to homes 190, babies over 1 year and under care 477, cases under treatment 652. The Plunket rooms had been well attended during the month, the number of visits being 452. Wakapuaka had been visited twice, Tahuna twice, and Stoke threo times. There were still a number of mothers, children and babies suffering from influenza colds, some more or less severe. Where necessary the doctor is in attendance; all are now progressing favourably. Country report: Cases under treatment 134. Richmond, mothers and adults to rooms 6, babies 6, visits to homes 4. Wakefield, mothers and adults to rooms 3, babies 3, visits to home 1. Dovedale, mothers and adults to rooms 9, babies 8, visits to homes 6. Murchison, mothers and adults to rooms 3, babies 3, visits to homes 4. Two visits were paid to Richmond. The attendance at the rooms was much the same as usual. All babies seen were doing satisfactorily. One visit was’paid to Wakefield. The babies are all progressing satisfactorily. At Dovedale tne attendance at the hall was very good. The babies were all very well, having recovered from colds of the previous month. One visit was paid to Murchison where the _ attendance was better and all the babies were well.

Mrs 0. Y. Fell has offered the use of two rooms and machines and afternoon tea for the benefit of members who are sewing and working for the bazaar and fair, and which the society hopes to hold in November. The first meeting to start the work will be on the first Monday in September, at 2 o’clock. All arrangements for the coming fancy dress ball for children in the afternoon ah 3 plain for grown ups have been made for the 22nd, and tickets for are on sale from the committee. There was a discussion on {fie remits from all over New Zealand which are to be sent to the conference in Wellington on the 22nd. Threo delegates are going to it from Nelson, and some from the country branches.
