EMPLOYEE CHARGED WITH THEFT
CASES DISMISSED

WHANGAREI, 10th August. . The Magistrate, Mr Page, in a reserved judgment dismissed charges of stealing records and receiving electrical fittings preferred against Sidney Frederick William Vause. Defendant was head of the gramophone department of his firm’s business, and was authorised to give.-away for the purposes of tbe firm’s business- such records- as-. he thpugbti tit; •To -constitute thqlt, goods rbufet bo: tnifceii without colour of right. Ip regard to electrical apparatus, evidence showed that for many years defendant, who was the only one in the firm’s employ possessing a technical knowledge on the point, had made a practice, with the knowledge of his employers, of taking homo and testing appliances, whether of his own firm, or other firms with which "lie. did business. He was not satisfied that defendant’s action in receiving goods was other than honest.
