BUSINESSYESTERDAY HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES (By Telegraph) (From “The Mail’s” Parliamentary Reporter). WELLINGTON, 10th August. The House of Representatives met at 2.30 p.ln. to-day. Mr T. M. Wilford (Hutt) gave notice of his intention to move that the time ilias arrived when the Government should introduce .legislation providing that ail borrowers from State Departments be required on obtaining a loan to insure their lives, when practicable, for the amount advanced, so that the policy, whilst forming an’ additional security to the State, would be available, should the borrower die before the loan i.s repaid, and thus free his estate from any liability under the mortgage. Mr J. G. Elliott (Oroua) gave notice to ask the Minister of Agriculture whether his Department had knowledge of a statement recently made that basic slag was being imported into the Dominion in containers, the inside of which was an envelope made from used Argentine meat wrappers, and whether in view of tho danger of the introduction of loot and mouth disease, instructions would he given to discontinue the use of the containers.

Mr W. S. Glenn (Rangitikei) gave notice of his intention to ask the Government if it would set aside a block of partially improved land where New Zea-land-born hoys might learn farming under a system of instruction similar to that adopted at Flock House. Mr A. L. Martin (Raglan) gave notice to ask the Prime Minister if-.lie will consider the introduction of legislation so that agricultural and pastoral societies and associations may he elig-‘ ible to apply to tho State Advances Office for. help in financing show grounds. Mr A. Harris (Waitemala) gave notice to ask the Minister of Education whether an opportunity would he given this session for school teachers, who wes3 non-contributors to the teachers’ superannuation fund, to pay in arrears of contributions, plus compound interest, thus enabling them, to become contributors to tho fund. The British Nationality and Status of Aliens (in New Zealand) Bill was received from the Legislatvo Council and read a first time. .

The Maintenance Orders (Facilities for Enforcement) Amendment Bill was introduced on the motion of the Minister of Justice (the Hon. F. J. Rolleston) and read a first time.
