NO DIAMONDS

LONDON, Bth August. * The Elizabethville diamonds proved to be non-existent Salvagers worked for months to recover the safe in which the diamonds were Reputed to be carried.. They neglected every other part of the ship in order to secure the safe which, when opened, was found to contain equivalent to £lO and a Belgian franc.
Diamonds worth £400,000, the property of the Belgian Government, were previously reported to have been recovered from the. wreck of the Belgian steamer Elizabethville, which toipedoed off Belle Isle in 1917 while en route from the Congo' to Havre.
