CHANGES IN OLYMPIC PRO " - GR AMME

At the International Amateur Athletic Association it Avas decided that the times for short races should in the future be taken in tenths of seconds.
Following a discussion on the effect of long distance racing on women, it was decided to delete the women’s 800 metres from the Olympic programme, substituting an 80 metres hurdles and Javelin throwing. It was decided to add a 50 kilometres road walking race .to the men’s programme. DOPING AN EXISTING FAULT _ The Athletic Federation, for the first time, recognised doping as an existing fault, and made provision for the exclusion of any person knowingly doping or assisting in doping from any place where the Federation rules prevail. COMPETITORS ENTERTAINED (Received 9th August, noon). AMSTERDAM. Bth August. The New Zealand boxers attended the Queen of Holland’s dance, and supper will be given several hundred Olympic competitors in the Palace at Amsterdam to-night.
LOWE NOT COMING TO NEW ZEALAND LONDON, Btli August. ’’ The .athlete Lowe is unable to accept the Now Zealand Association’s invitation owing to professional duties.
