A message from Antigo-nish states that Mr R. B. Bennett, the Tory leader, who is touring Nova Scotia, declared vtliat. 591.000 people had left Canada in six years, and only 573,000 bad been brought in. There was no wOrk, and the people were leaving the country. Why were there no jobs? For the year ending 31st May Canada purchased 15,000,000 pounds of butter and sold 500 pounds, yet only two years ago Canada sold 25,000,000 pounds. There were 25,000 cases of New Zealand butter on order. Canadian farmers were being placed in unfair competition with New Zealand producers}. Canadian butter was being displaced .by New Zealand, and the herds were being deleted. What was going to happen under these circumstances? No wonder the people were leaving the country.
Speaking at Davidson, Saskatchewan, in reply to Mr Bennett, the Premier, Mr King refuted the “blue ruin” talk, declaring that the prosperity of Canada was almost unprecedented.
