Mr J. H. Kirk has been nominated by the Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association for a further term as President of the New' Zealand Lawn Tennis Association. The Nelson Association lies nominated Mr C. 31. Rout and Wellington’s nominee is Mr J. C. Peacock.
•General sympathy with the secretary (Mr H:* Milner) was expressed by Harbour Board members at the meeting yesterday. On the motion of Mr Gould it was resolved that Mr Milner be granted a month’s holiday on full pay as soon as he is fit enoiigh to take it. The chairman’s action in appointing Mr Robertson secretary during Mr Milner's absence was confirmed.
The death has occurred at, Wellington of Mr Walter Croft. A large number of Nelson fruit exporters came in contact with Mr Croft- during the past export season, as he was engaged on the Nelson wharf assisting the federation agent. He had not been long out from England, and his health had not been good for some time. Mr “Nobby” Knowles, representing the United States Rubber Co., who has been visiting Nelson regularly _ every month for the last nine years, is being farewelled to-night, as'ho is leaving to settle in Hastings, where he will represent his firm in Hawkes Bay.
