MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETING

REPRESENTATIVE i'TXTURES At last night's meeting of thp Nelson Rugby Union there were present:— Messrs W. Frank (president) in the chair, G. Logan, ID. iDowgrity, 11. SearJo, E. Blewett, G. P. Russell, E. Paid, B. Edwards, S. Newman, ?H. Blincoe, I). Fowler, E. J. lvemnitz, L. M. Estcourt, and the secretary (Mr F. J. Lock). The country clubs forwarded £l6 as (lie Union’s share of the Town v. Country* match. The Wairarapa Union requested Nelson., with the help of the Bays’ Union guarantee and £3O subsidy from tho New Zealand Union, to pay all expenses of the Wairarapa teamis visit to the district. Cooke had decided to accompany tlie team.—lt was decided that Nelson keep to the original terms (£6O guarantee). After ■ the Golden Bay-Motueka Union’s letter objecting to the Shield match at Westport, it was decided that Buller ho informed of Bay’s objection. Buller’s challenge for the Shield holds good for the match to be played at Nelson on 25th August. Challenges for the Scddon Shield were received from Marlborough and Golden Bay-Molucka for Ist September and Bth September respectively. Considerable discussion took place on representative fixtures and it was decided that the previous motion on. tho Wairarapa match be rescinded and that the Wairarapa Union he informed that the Nelson Union was not prepared to meet their financial arrangements. It was also decided to offer Marlborough .Ist September for their Shield challenge and Golden, Bjiy-Motueka, 22»jl September.

Mr Blewett was appointed local mana.ger of the Buller team while in Nejsori. The charges for Saturday’s match with Qtago were fixed at Is 6d gate, and 6d for seats.

Jhe College v. Wakatu junior match will be played as a curtain raiser to the Otago-N T elson match. It was decided to ask tho Waimea Club why its junior team did not take the field last Saturday against College. Letters of thanks are to be sent, to Mr R. Haycock for his services as calKstevvard at the Park on Monday and fl Mr K. Feary for Ins attention to an injured Nelson player at Takaka. ; The ground is so hard at the Park that it was decided to water it, if necessary before next Saturday.’, The Union raised the grant of £5 for the .transport of schools teams to Motuek<i to £B, if nnvjiigenionts at- a Josser price cannot he made'/ Mr Estcourt repotted on the representative tea'm's'tvisit to Takaka. A letter from the proprietor’ of the hotel at which the Nelson team stayed in Takaka was read and discussed in committee. It was decided to pay part of the hotel account, the Union considering that it was not liable for the balance. '
