The suitability of Marlborough as a centre for thqT defence of Cook Strait was stressed ' The Minister said that in view of the fact that Marlborough, was on the list of clubs the departmentintended to supply with machines next year, h.e would recommend Cabinet to adopt a proposal that funds be, advanced so that twp Moths could be ordered at once. Meantime the Director of Air Forces would endeavour to secure an old ’plane for instructional purposes. Mr Rolleston remarked that Blenheim was an important link in the chain of air defences, and a natural landing place for machines going north and south, and the, provision of an aerodrome by the municipality had been a great assistance.
