FOOTBALL SHIELDS
VALUE TO GAME QUESTIONED
(By Telegraph.—Press Association) DUNEDIN, This Day. Members of ihe local Rugby Union took exception to the action of Wairarapairi not, sending their full team on after the, shield match and to a similar policy 'by'another North Island side. The argument was put forward that it was debatable whether the shield was of any value to football, and a resolution was carried, with four dissentients, protesting against Wairarapa's action. Such a policy, it was considered, appeared to indicate that all matches but those for the shield were comparatively unimportant, and was apt to raise the question of whether it would be worth while making fixtures with unions which adopted this practice.
