BISHOP ATTACKS MODERN PLAYS
MANY SHOULD N'OT RE PASSED The Bishop of Willcsdeii, England, who is chairman of the Actors" Church Union, made some striking comments on modern plays at All Souls' Church, Langham Place, .London. He dedicated a font cover given by Miss Cicely Courtneitlge in memory of her sister. Miss Rosaline Court neitlge. "T know there are many who still think it a sin to go to the theatre." said the bishop. "I have nothing to say against, them. "If they feel it is a sin, then it is. Certainly some of the plays which arc produced are not lit for the public. They are a disgrace, and one wonders how the Lord Chamberlain could bring himself to pas? them. "I know, 100, that many actors an I actresses simply hate playing, some of the parts which they have to act."
