SHEFFIELD SHIELD •QUEENSLA N,D, V. VICTO RTA (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Australian A N.Z. Cable Association) BRISBANE, 3rd February. In the Sheffield Shield match Victoria v. Queensland, Victoria lost eight- wickets for 265 ''runs —Ponsford 63,. Hendry 32, Ryder 84, Scaife 39. The weather was fine and the wicket in good order. Woodfull was unable to play owing to an injured knee. The batting was very slow against good bowling and keen fielding, but as play progressed the batsmen livened. Ryder gave the best exhibition of the day, scoring all round the wicket at a fast rate. A feature of the partnership between Ponsford and Ryder was the running between the wickets, which was the best seen for some time.
