SWIM ACROSS COOK STRAIT
ATTEMPT MADE TO-DAY JJY R. J. WEBSTER OF AUCKLAND (United Press Association) BLENHEIM, This Day The Auckland swimmer Ronald John Webster left Picton in a launch at 3.30 this morning. He was to land on a North Island beach about 8 a.lll. He proposed to attempt to swim to the South Island from this beach, accompanied by a launch containing pressmen and others. Webster is a member of the Ponsonby Swimming Club. He is twenty years of age, and won the three mile championship at Dunedin recently.
