MYSTERIOUS ’PLANES
WESTERN AUSTRALIAN STORY CONFLICTING REPORTS Further reports concerning the mysterious aeroplanes said to have been seen near Broome, Western Australia, in November, have been received by the Australian Government from the sub-collec-tor of Customs at Broorpe. The sub-collector has reported that he Has interviewed a shell opener named Nelson, who says that he saw the keroplanes flying near Broome on 29th November. The sub-collector points out, however, that Nelson did not mention the matter until the other man, Percy, said he had seen the planes. Ilohin Hunt, the half-caste owner of a mail lugger, ruipjfhg between Broome ami Leviquo Point, stated that he saw no signs of the aeroplanes nor did any of the aborigines, with wjipm lie has spoken, see them. Regarding the opinion that the aeroplanes may have been engaged in opium smuggling, the subcollcetor says that He considers this i 3 possible, hut not probable.
