MEXICAN CONSUL'S STATEMENTS

Cable Association OTTAWA, 16fli Jan. , Catholic clergy and laity at Toronto are asking for the recall of the Mexican Consul-General, L. M. Barron, as-the result of a statement' he issued in connection with the visit made by Sir Henry Thornton, president,of the Canadian . national railways, to Mexico to assist that country with her railway problem. Doctor Fallon, Roman Catholic Bishop of London, Ontario, issued an open, letter to the Prime Minister protesting against Sfr Henry Thornton's visit as a "most disgraceful, indecent, and indefensible 'episode." Consul Barron, in a statement discussing the; expulsion of clergy in Mexico, said the church aided the revolt against the' Government. It is understood the matter will be raised in Parliament.
