NELSON LAND BOARD
MONTHLY MEETING
At the monthly meeting of the Nelson Land Board there were present; Mr A. !•’. Waters, Commissioner of Crown Lands (chairman), and Messrs W. (.!. Mirlin, G. Macniahon, and J. o’Hogan. Leave of absence from this meeting was granted to Mr A. I!. Edwards. The. Commissioner and members welcomed Air O'Regiiu, tho successful candidate at the recent election, on taking his seat for tho first Lime. It was resolved, oil the occasion of the first, meeting of the Nelson Laud Board alter tho termination of Air Robert Patterson's term of office, lie having decided not to stand for re-election,' to put on record the high appreciation of tile Commissioner and members of (lie valuable service rendered by Mr Patterson as a member of tho Board during the past 14 years, and of the ability and experience which lie brought to its counsels at all times during his long term of office.
Applications for Land,—Air Michael Shine applied for an occupation license over an area of approximately 4C9 acres of pakilii land situated in Block iv, Waitakcre S.D.— Resolved lo issue an occupation license at. an annual rental of £2. Crown land on the hanks of (lie W’ni-iti liver, area approximately 2 acres; applicant, William Sampson,— Resolved to issue an occupation license at an annual rental of 10s. Air J. W. Hodgkinson applied for tlio issue of a pastoral license title to him over section 17, block ii, Tutak'i S.D., containing ail area of 373 acres.—Resolved to issue a pastoral license as from 1/1/28, at an annual rental of £9 7s 6d, provided Mr Hodgkinson indemnifies the Crown against any expenditure for road access.
Lands to be Opened.—Section 16, block ix, Otumahana Survey District, area 497 acres, capital value £250, formerly held by \V. H. Lad brook.—Resolved to offer for selection on renewable leaso at a capital value of £lB6 7s 6d, weighted with £230 for. improvements.
Correspondence and Miscellaneous.— The Inangahua County Council forwarded proposals for tho expenditure ot thirds accrued to 30/9/27, and amounting to £4O 9s sd.—Approved. Tho Riwuka Road Board forwarded proposals for tho expenditure of thirds, etc., accrued to 30th September, 1927, and amounting lo £6 'l9s 4d.—Approved. The Board also dealt with, 1 application. to transfer, 6 miscellaneous, 1 application for laud. 1 application for extension of term of license, 1 renewal of small grazing run, <5 surrenders, 5 forfeitures, 1 cancellation, 1 schedule of interest to be remitted on postponed rent of discharged soldier settlers mortgaged to the Crown under the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, and 17 applications for relief under tho Deteriorated Lands Act, 1925.
