JUNIOR NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS COMPARISON WITH OTHER DISTRICTS

\ In the junior national scholarship examinations, the results of which were published last week, Nelson students, wheh compared with other education centres, obtained a very higji percentage of passes. The fact was referred to at the "Education Board meetirtg to-day, when the secretary (Mr Thornton) in reporting thb results, said that last- year Nelson had done exceptionally well, but this year 1 the record was a remarkable one, when compared with the larger education districts. Wanganui, with 15,480 pupils, obtained 17 scholarships; Hawkes Bay, 14,808, 13 scholarships; Taranaki, 10,325, 13 scholarships ; while Nelson,, with 6564 pupils, obtained scholarships. Wellington, with 24,357 pupils, nearly four tittles as many as Nelson, obtained 27.
