NELSON DEFENCE RIFLE CLUB The club resumed championship shoots on Saturday, when a match was fired at Wakapualca over 300 and 600 yds ranges —lo,snots with 2 optional.Biffh^ers. A number, of the seventeen competitors reverted to (lie use of riitro cellulose ammunition, this appearing to give more satisfaction than the cordite that had been used during the last three or four shoots. The cordite ammunition was apparently the cause of niekelling in the rifle, resulting in low scores.' An ab.xen.cq. of niekelling by-those using nitro cellulose nn Saturday was noticeable.

'Hie' afternoon’s shoot, besides, being a championship shoot, and the first- shoot for the Wastncy Cup, was also tho third shoot of the second aggregate. The winner was the veteran, Rflm. R. Kenning, with 43 at 300 and 44 at 500yds—handicap 5—02, reaching tlio standard. Rflm. F. Clcdhill, who made the best score for the afternoon off tho rifle, ran him closely with 42 at 300, 46 at 500yds —handicap 2—oo, with L. Dixon 42 at 300yds and 43 at 500yds—handicap 5 00; in third place. ■ Kenning,' with two inners for sighters at 300yds, went, on, with 44552555—43, and at 500yds lie cut out an. inner and outer as sighters, and put on 3545444555 —44. Gleclhill cut out 4 and 3 at 300 yds, and registered 555345434—42, and at 500yds cutting out his sighter of 2, ho put on 5555543545 —46. Following are details of the scoring
