ENGLISH CROQUET TEAM
ITINERARY OF THE TOUR. Tho English croquet team .which is just, concluding a scries of matches in Australia is due to arrive at Auckland by the Ulirnaroa on 24th January. The party, which comprises fii’o players, consists of Sir Francis Wemyss, who is in'charge of the team, Colonel Dupre, Mr Windsor Richards, Miss D. D. Steele and Miss J. Retellack. With them are travelling Mrs and ' Miss Dupre and Mrs Windsor Richards. A comprehensive itinerary has been arranged, which will allow of sightseeing and an opportunity to indulge in other sports, such as fishing. afternoon of 251 h January an exhibition match will be played at the Devonport Bowling Club green.. On the next morning games will be played against selected Auckland teams at the Mount Ellen Club’s greens. The party will leave in the evening for Wanganui, where they will play in a tournament. On February 3rd a test, match against a North Island team will be decided, after which the tourists will proceed to Palmerston North.
On Kith February a test, match will be played against a New Zealand team. Proceeding to Christchurch, the party will play a series of games against South Island representatives, returning then to Wellington, where they will probably embark on. 14th March, for England via Panama.
The onlv member of the party who has visited New Zealand before is Sir Francis Wemyss, who was here two years ago. He. hopes In find time on his trip to enjoy trout fishing in the South Island rivers, while several other members of the party are also keen fishermen. They all hope to he able'to see the beautv spots of the Dominion, and it is intended to arrange sight-seeing trips at each of the centres they visit.
