SIR ROY’S TINWAJLD HANDICAP

CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Sir Roy carried half the total oil the machine at the Ashburton races, m tin Tinwald Handicap. The four starters got away on even terms and raced togetlui for ‘a furlong. Margaret Birney then went to the front and led Moratorium, Sir Roy and Ophir to the far lem. Moratorium moved up at the bend and led into the straight from Sir ito.v, Margaret, Birney and Ophir. Sir boy asserted himself when their beads were turned for home, and stalling oil a challenge by Ophir, won comfortably by a length. Moratorium was two lengths away third, a head in front of Maigan-.t Birney. . Sir Roy always looked n w.'iiicr and finished full of running :n the fas*. Imic of 2.65. , Ophir made a promising move- entering the straight, but had no el.a.ne w.lh Sir Roy. Moratorium vegis'mvd a tan performance.
