NATIVES SLAUGHTER HERD OF WILDEBEESTS

animals thought to escape by crossing the. river, but could not, and, finding they wero trapped, they turned, only to find the greyhounds wailing for them (says llio London-" Daily Mail"). 'The greyhounds attacked the tightlypacked anil struggling mass at the water's edge, and tore many of llioin lo pieces. At the same time Ihe. natives', armed with daggers, hacked and .slashed a passage into their midst, Altogether 200 wildobeesls were drowned or killed. The natives made. off. with dozens df carcases, and celebrated the occasion with u great feast.
