GLENHOPE-MURCHISON
MOTOR. SERVICE IN OPERATION WORKING SUCCESSFULLY " Last Monday the new motor lorry service between Glenhope and Murchison was commenced, goods being carried at ordinary railway rates. Mr Robertson, stationmaster at Nelson, has just inspected the new service and speaking to a "Mail." representative this morning he said that everything was working well, and that the people directly affected were pleased with the new facilities. The railway service was taking all the trade between the. railheads and already tho output of coal from Murchison was coming to Nelson by rail. In aTldition the pig traffic which used to go via Reefton would now come through Murchison to the Nelson Freezing Works, and it was quite likely that timber and firewood would follow. The new service was helping farmers by carrying their manures at a verv cheap rate—Bs 9d a ton for 6-ton lotsj and 10s 9d for 1-ton lots.
