GARDEN PARTY AT GIRLS' COLLEGE

HELD IN BRILLIANT WEATHER TENNTS FINALS AND DANCING The annual garden party was held in the grounds of the Girls' College on Saturday afternoon in brilliant weather. There was a very large attendance of parents and friends of the pupils, including many past pupils of the College. The guests were received on the lawn by the Lady Principal, Miss Mills. The ground, which were looking at their best, presented an animated scene. During the afternoon tea was handed round and the finals of the tennis competitions were played and several dances and drill exercises were given by the pupils. The results of the tennis were: WJTtiing Cup (senior championship): Rona Woods; runner-up, Flo Downie. JThe winner also takes the Kirkpatrick trophy. Inter-form Championship (Grace Cup): Won by Form Vf: ruriners-up, Form VA.

Intermediate Championship Cup (under 16): Jean' Lindsay; runner-up, Margery' Nightingale. Junior Championship* (under 15, Richmond Fell Cup): Hop_e Tilfyard; runner-up, Gladys Coombs. Head senior ladder (trophy presented by anonymous Old Girl): J. Betts. Senior Doubles: S. Downie and J. Lindsay; runners-up, R. Coombs and J. Betts.

The drill championship was won by y.. Robinson, with C. Horner runneraip. The dancing and drill earned out under the supervision of Miss Tompkins and Miss Edwards, including country dances, two folk sangs- and two eurythmic dances. P. Fell and K. Johnston represented "Wind and Rain" and N. Gillespie and K. Wallace represented "Captive Butterfly." v The Wilding Cup was presented by Mrs C. Milner (wife of Mr C. Milner, manager of Kirkpatrick and Co.) and Mrs W. C. Harley (wife of Mr W T . C. Harley, chairman of the College Board of Governors), presented the remainder of'the'trophies.
