COMMENTS ON FORM (By Telegraph—Special to "The Mail") CHRISTCHURCH, This Day Set Sail was responsible for a really good performance in winning the Tes-chema-Ker Handicap at Tirnaru yesterday. It was in fact one of her very best efforts. She was being ridden very confidently two furlongs from home, but at the finish she was being ridden hard to stall off Ark Royal whom she beat by the narrowest of margins. Set Sail is very well at present, and. will get some money before the holiday meetings are disposed of. Ark Royal was the unlucky contestant. He got into trouble shortly after the. start and was several lengths behind the leaders at the home turn. From this point ho gradually improved his position and was only beaten by the, narrowest of •margins. With a favourable run 'lie would have recorded a comfortable win. Ho looks like winning good races over a distance. Battlement did not disgrace himself by his effort. He was in a good position behind the leaders at the turn for home, and then seemed to lose it, but he came again in the straight, and was galloping as well as anything in the race at the finish. Rascal flattered his supporters for the greater part, but stopped badly in the last furlong. Front Rank appeared to be the win v ner nearing the post, but lack of racing found her wanting. l . Money Order outclassed the opposition in the Flying Handicap. He was one of the. leaders all the way and on reaching the straight strode away to .win with ridiculous ease. It was a very impressive performance, demonstrating that he has improved out of sight since he won at Motukarara in October. Money Order is booked for a trip to Auckland, where he may have to be reckoned with in important sprint events. Sir Roy made a poor showing in the big race at the South Canterbury Meeting yesterday, and was always one of the rear division. His form is hard to understand in face of his win at Riccarton kst, month and his good track work since.
