YESTERDAY IN PARLIAMENT

A HEAVY DAY PETROL TAX BILL INTRODUCED (By Telegraph) (From “The Mail’s” Parliamentary Reporter).

WELLINGTON, This Day. Yesterday was a rather heavy day in the House. The chief feature was the introduction of the Licensing Amendment Bill. Three Bills were passed in the course of the sitting, namely, the Mortgagees Indemnity (Workers Charges) Bill, the Post and Telegraph Amendment Bill and the Property Law Amendment Bui. The Child Welfare Amendment Bill was read a second time, pro forma, and referred to the Education Committee.

Before the House adjourned at 11.35 p.rii., the Motor Spirits Taxation Bill, which gives effect to the imposition of the petrol tax duty of 4d per gallon, was introduced and read a first time.
