At tho annual meeting of the Band of tho Ist Nelson, Marlborough and West Coast Regiment, held ip the Bamj room, there wore present Life "Honorary Member 0. Ijsapor (in the chair), Major Itollings and full muster of Band.
Tile immnil report and balance sheet showed Ihe Band to have had a very successful year. The Band has given the following concerts free: Two Sunday concerts. Hospital and Mental Hospital, etc., Christinas tree and patients' dance, Old Boys’ Day College sports, Children’s (lain. Day, Tuhuua Sands Association (lain. Day, Bowling Club, Y.M.C.A., Salvation Army and following engagements, A. and I*. Associat ion and Motor Cycle sports.
The balance sheet showed tile Baud to he in a good financial position, coming out with, a credit balance of £27 3s and liabilities nil.
REPORT The Band attended the annual training camp held at Tapawera. During the year the Band was presented with a new set of Boosey in« struinents, to belong to the city. This was made possible by the hard work of the Citizens’ Committee and to them is accorded a, hearty vote of thanks. The Band followed its usual custom and went carolling on Christmas Day and was well rewarded by the liberal support received from friends and supporters, and to them we express our thanks. The membership now stands at 53 five new members have joined and two resignations have been received this year. JUNIOR RAND The conductor (Mr Cole) lias a class of 22 lads in training, and as they become proficient they are drafted to the senior Band. With, this good work continuing the future looks very hopeful. During the year the following longaervice medals were received: Sergt. Lock (21 years), and Bandsman A. MeConehie, Corporal W. Reed, Bandsmen R. Whilwell and 11. Wilkins (12 years). ELECTION OF OFFICERS The election of officers resulted as follows President, Mr Clias. Reaper (Life honorary member; secretary, Bandsman H. Wilkins; treasurer, Sergt. W. Lock; custodian, Bandsman V. Benseinann; conduclor, Mr T. Cole; bandmaster, R. Whitwcll; drum-major, A. J. Bennett ; auditor, Mr E. R. Blewett. (All reelected). Committee, Drum-Major Bennett, Corpl. Reed, Bandsmen Haase, Benseniann and Lipseonibe. Major Rollings and the president congratulated the Band on the fine year’s work.
A hearty vote of thanks to past officers and the chair terminated a very splendid meeting.
