"LISTENERS-IN" LEAGUE

Dissatisfaction with the broadcasting system is not by any means confined to the large centres of New Zealand. Everywhere throughout the Dominion disgruntled owners of sets are complaining of the attitude of the Broadcasting Company towards any complaints that may be made by individual listeners. In ordinary commercial life it is customaryfirst to know what you want, second to go to a vendor and inspect his goods, and then to buy and pay. If the vendor cannot offer anything suitable, the purcbaser.. goes elsewhere. The Broadcasting Company collects the greatest portion of the 35/- license fee and then says 'You have got to take what we cboose to give yon, at the times suitable to ns. One of these days we may give you a bit more for your money." . At present the average owner just fills in time with New Zealand stations until the "Aussies" come in. He really pays his license to tbe Broadcasting. Company for the pleasure of listening to foreign stations. On Monday evening a meeting is being held of all listeners-in in Nelson, with tbe idea of forming a League thai will link up with similar bodies throughout the country and thus speak in' a united voice and demand from the authorities the rights for which they have paid. Every owner of a set should attend the meeting and thus take the first step towards securing improvement in existing conditions.
