IMPRISONMENT THE ONLY
REMEDY

The opinion that the imposition of terms of imprisonment is the only effective means of checking the increasing number of cases of the unlawful conversion of cars was expressed by Mr Biddcll to-day when hearing a charge against John Robert Rue, a labourer, who had taken and damaged a car to the extent, of £5. The case against three others whir were occupants was dismissed on the statement that they did not know the car was stolen. Rae got fourteen days.
