PLUCKY RESCUE
TWO CHILDREN SAVED FROM DROWNING (United Preas Association) PALMERSTON N., This Day. While playing on the hank of the Mangaone Stream yesterday, two children named Te Rangi, aged three and a half and six years respectively, fell into the flooded stream. The cries of two other children .brought rescuers and Jane Te Rangi, aged 14, though unable to swim, jumped into the water and was clasped by the elder of the tw\ children, who had hold of the younger. The rescuer reached the bank, which she clutched hold of, at the same time supporting the other children until all were rescued in an exhausted condition. The plucky action of Jane Te Rangi averted a drowning tragedy. The youngest child was in a very serious state when rescued, but after treatment at a neighbour's home, revived.
