Nelson won the toss and took advantage of what little breeze there was. t'lay opened quietly with the visitors attacking, Homme eventually clearing with a good luck. Canada returned to the attack, where, a shot sent in by Davidson was well cleared by Smith in goal. Immediately afterwards Bourne cleared a promising looking shot. Nelson attacked, ,-md Gould received a pass from Mnncastcr, but the shot by Gould went o>ver the net. The visitors were combining well, and 12 minutes after 'the start Davidson opened the score with a goal from a pass off Milligan. Canada 1 ; Nelson 0.
After being on the defensive for some time, during which the Nelson goalie cleared two or thrcu times, Nelson attacked, and from a resultant corner Bourne headed the ball just- over the bar. At this stage play livened up considerably, Nelson more than holding their own, the- Canadian goalie being called upon to save. At half-time the score was Canada 1 Nelson 0 '
