TWO MEN CHARGED WITH

MANSLAUGHTER

WELLINGTON, This Day. Arising Sul of the Hutt Road collision on 24th May between a sedan car and a, service car, Ernest George Reid, alias Edward Harper, a labourer aged 29, and Henry Slacey, a, lalmurer aged 33, were, charged with manslaughter in connection with the death of the service car driver, Kenny; conversion of a car; and causing injury to Madge Williams by reckless driving. The Court was crowded.

Bertio S. Lyon gave evidence that he found his car' missing. Eventually, he went looking for it along the Hutt Road and came across it at the scene of the accident.

Patrol Constable Buddie said he was sitting on a stationary motor cycle at Kaiwarra when lie saw a car travelling at'4o miles an hour towards Petone. He immediately gave chase, got alongside. blew his horn, held out his hand to stop, and then rode in front of the car, which still did not stop. He had (o pull off (he road (o avoid being run over. Continuing the chase he saw the car suddenly go to the wrong side and crash into a service car.
