REMOVAL OF HAWTHORN FARMERS’ PROTEST (United Pross Association) PALMERSTON N., This Day. The Manawatu A. and P, Association decided to organise a deputation to the Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture protesting against farmers being compelled 1o eradicate hawthorn hedges to prevent the spread of fireblight, speakers contending that fanners had enough hardships to contend with without having to go to the expense of destroying hedges.
