CAR OVERTURNS
PASSENGERS’ NARROW ESCAPE PETROL IGNITES (United Press Association) PALMERSTON N., Thin Day. Six residents. of Taranaki had a narrow escape from serious injury when travelling by motor,car three miles north of Bulls, in endeavouring to pass a lorry on a -narrow strip of road the car struck the. rear wheel of the lorry with sufficient force to cause the driver to lose control of the steering wheel. The car went forward and overturned, pinning three passenger underneath. Their position was rendered very precarious by the petrol igniting, although the fire was soon extinguished. Doyle, one of the occupants, suffered injuries lo the face by an extinguisher falling on him. while pinned under the car.
