PORT NELSON SHIPMENTS

FOR £927 SEASON

The appended information regarding the export of apples from Port Nelson for the 1927 season has been furnished by Mr J. H. Thorp, orchard instructor for Nelson fruit district: — The total number of cases exported from the Nelson side of the district amounted to 96,018 cases, a decrease of 17.639 cases as compared with the previous season. Totals were-: Apples 92,840 cases. Pears 3,178 crates. To Europe 87,510 apples. To Europe 3,178 pears. South America 5,330 apples. There were 86 exporters, and 27 varieties of apples and 11 varieties of pears were sent. The following table gives the number.tff varieties and grades exported:—
