ARBITRATION ACT
REPEAJL FAVOURED BY PRODUCERS
(United Press Association)
WELLINGTON, This Day. That steps be taken by various producers' organisations throughout the Dominion to inaugurate a movement in favour of the abolition of the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act, as it injuriously affects farming interests, was the text of a remit discussed t by the Royal Agricultural Society this morning. Some thought total abolition too drastic a step to take all at once and that a commission of inquiry would meet the case.
Sir Douglas McLean advocated a straight out vote on the repeal of the Act. There was present, he said, as representative a gathering of producers as would ever he got together. A three to one majority carried a motion advocating the repeal of the Act.
A further motion suggesting an inquiry into the wages system was carried unanimously.
