STARTED BUSINESS WITHOUT CAPITAL (United Preßß Association) CIIRISTCIIURCII, 26th Mriy. At a meeting of creditors in the assigned estate of 11. CJ. Jlaines, builder, in which the deficiency is- £3399, it was reported by the Official Assignee that bankrupt had stated he started business without capital and lost on buildings through putting in work and material for which" lie had not charged. He had tried to keep his books straight, but, now realised "that he should have engaged an accountant : If lie had done this he might have pulled through. Instead he. loel his nerve, and went away from Christchurch, but did not "leave the Dominion. He worked part of the time, in Nelson a'.id a job was awaiting him there. The creditors decided to adjourn sine die, but bankrupt will be required to keep .a record of his earnings, etc.
