FARMERS' CONFERENCE

..'The inter-provincial conference of the New Zealand Farmers' Union, was concluded to-day. Amongst the decisions arrived at were: — , T.hat the Government be asked to place the country towns on the same footing as the' sea parts by reducing the railway freights oh imported - timber to the ordinary timber rates. ' That where practicable, the control of noxious weeds be placed in ihe hands of the Rabbit Boards.
'., That all manufactured articles, including produce exported, be legibly marked, "Made in New Zealand," and that the abbreviation "N.Z," jbe discontinued.. ' That a substantial reduction should be made in woolbroking charges. '.'That'the conference was of the opinion that the many trading and financial institutions were realising undue profits, and that the provisions of the Commercial Trusts Act bo more actively enforced.
' That the associated banks be asked to explain, why they have increased the burdens of the primary producers by raising the price of money at a time when, owing to the low price of farm products, fanners are experiencing great difficulty in meeting their finan. cial obligations.
. The following were elected provincial presidents:—Wellington.: Mi- K W. Dalrymple (Bulls); Wairarapa, Mr G. C. Jackson (Maslerton); Manawatu, IMr 0. P. Lynch (Waikanae); Wanganui Mr T. Curric (Brunswick), After the conference closed the delegates visited the Central Development .Farm and other places of interest in the district.
