GERM OF TRACHOMA
DISCOVERED BY JAPANESE
DOCTOR

WASHINGTON, 19th May.
The Japanese Dr. Hideyo Nogu'chi, addressing the American .Medical Association, announced the isolation of the long-sought germ of trachoma. Dr. Noguehi, who is a member of the Rockefeller Institute of Medical Research, described seven years' experiments, which ultimately resulted in isolation. During this period he collaborated with Dr. Martin Cohen of New York.
At the conclusion of his address 1000 eye specialists rose and cheered Dr. Nbguchi.

.Simultaneously in another part of the building Dr. Clyde Snook, of the Bell Telephone Company laboratories, gave a demonstration- of "the amplification of heart heats ten trillion times by means of what ho calls an electrical stethoscope, which makes the heat sound like a thunderclap. '■'■ ' '
