ABDUCTOR KILLED
NOTORIOUS CRIMINAL SLAIN
NEW YORK, lOtih May. An abduction which has created a commotion in the Press here ended fatally for the abductor yesterday. j.ittle Joe Marcus, a notorious figure in the under-world, recently abducted Abraham Scharlin, a. wealthy impresario, and was holding him for £SO,OUq, ransom. Raiding a well-known criminal resort in the Hell's Kitchen district (lVing west of Central Park) last night police found Marcus hiding in a cellar. When called upon to surrender he opened fire on the police, who replied, shooting him dead. •
