To sit on the back of a horse and allow him to gallop along for two and ahalf minutes arid receive £BO sounds like easy money. This is what L. G. Morris got for riding Commendation to victory in the Great Northern Derby on Saturday. Sam Henderson's winning fee for steering Tanadees in the Cup was £BO, and in addition he was laid £3OO to nothing by the owner.
The ride on Footfall in the A.R.C. Handicap brought £56 to B. H. Morris; and T. W. Green, who sat on High Pitch in the Railway Handicap for Imin 15sec and on Agrion in the Royal Stakes for lmin 15 4-ssec earned £6B.
E. A. Keesing's fee for winning the Foal Stakes on Gascony amounted to £4O; and a like sum was earned by Roy Reed in the Summer Cup on Rapine. The most successful rider at the meeting was Tommy Green, whose five winning rides earned him £llß.
