STAFF PICNIC
VISIT TO LAKE ROTOROA
A very 'enjoyable picnic was held by the staff of A. Hodgson and Son, Wakefield, during the New ST ear holidays. At the invitation of the firm the staff with their wives and families, to the number of aboi)j 25, made an excursion to Lake Rotoroa, starting from Wakefield on New Year's Day on one of the firm's lorries and in private cars. A good deal of time was spout, in the Gowan Valley, and later cm in boating on the Lake, bush tramping, etc, Mr Flower's private hotel was reached in the evening, where excellent accommodation was available, and enjoyed. With the propriteor's kind permission a dance was held in the large dining room, in which other visitors readily joined and was kept up till nearly midnight. Mr \j. W. Hodgson was at the piano. On the night of New Year's Day over 60 guests were comfortably accommodated by Mr' and Mrs Flower. A safe and very pleasant return was made by the Hodgson party next day, and the firm's "Tin Lizzie," ably driven' by Mr M. Francois, made excellent time in competition with the other cars.
