LOYAI. NELSON LODGE NEW YEAR SOCIAL AND FRUIT BANQUET On Saturday evening the weekly session of the Loyal Nelson Lodge of Good Templars was held in the Rechabites Hall. Bro. P. Helsden presided. Among the items of business transacted were the adoption of the series of New .Year resolutions, pledging the Lodge to spam no efforts to advance the Order ia Nelson and surrounding district during 1927, first by a new members recruiting campaign for ordinary and honorary membership in the loyal * Nelson; by efforts to open lodges in Tahuna, Richmond, and Wakefield; and the re-open-ing of the Nelson district lodge. During the discussion of the resolutions Sisters Mrs Watson and Moves gave some interesting reminiscences of the Order and' work of various lodges in and around Nelson many years ago. The weekly five-minute epitome was read by Bro, Helsdon, 0.T., under the caption of “Looking Forward to Triumphs of 1927; enthusiasm of this Lodge.” It was hoped that the members would make it not only a record year but also a year of records by doubling the Lodge membership, which could he more than achieved by each member doing his or her duty and doing it well. This was followed by a social hour, during which raspberries and cream were handed round and thoroughly enjoyed by all present. New Year greetings and good wishes were extended to all. It was announced that members of the Baptist choir and Young Men’s Institute would visit and entertain the Lodge at its next weekly session.
