LOST FROM RUSSIA
SPOILS FROM THE CHURCHES SHIPMENT TO LONDON ' LONDO.V. 11th Dec. The "Daily Mail" says that the Soviet is using Great Britain as (he clear-ing-house for the spoils of Bolshevik vandalism and desecration. The Russian steamer Proletari, which has arrived in the Thames from Lenin-
grad, unloaded thousands of cases of apples, .and it was later disclosed that her other holds contained- 200 tons of .broken bronze. Some pieces weighed as much as three or four. tons. These wore the remnants of church bells and organ pipes, which .the Soviet authorities hud reniMved and broken up, as the churches are no longer permitted to be used as places of worship. The bronze was originally consigned to a French firm, and was transhipped to London, owms; to the fear of resentment in France if it should have become known that the In'onze came from Russian churches. ■
