TANGIER SHOULD BE SPANISH KING ALFONSO INTERVIEWED
(By Electric! Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Australian & N.Z. Cable Association.)
PARIS, 20th Dee
The “Figaro’s” -special correspondent at Madrid interviewed King Alfonso, who said: “it is to the interest of France that Tangier should be Spanish. Fiance knows well that all aggressive movements originate in Tangier. Ahd el Kriin is a case in point. Tangier, if left outside tlie Spanish protectorate, will continue to be the poiiit of departure for rebellious movements against Spain and France. The great number of square kilometres of territory which 1. am ready to give France in return for other advantages is proof of my friendly arid abiding faith in France. Our interests are the same in Morocco. We must pacify the entire zone as soon as possible and to this end I hope we may reach accord with France at the earliest possible date.”
